At the time of the recording of this single The Wurzels consisted of Pete Budd, Tommy Banner, John Morgan and Sedge Moor.
To promote The Wurzels forthcoming album, 'A Load More Bullocks', the anthemic 'Ruby' (made famous by The Kaiser Chiefs) was chosen as their first release of 2010. Like their previous single, 'Ode to Adge', it was only made generally available via internet download. As usual the song was produced by part-time Wurzel Louie Nicastro. A music video was commissioned to accompany the release and can be viewed here. The official press release was made on the 7th June 2010 and read:-The New Single 'Ruby' Available from Monday (June 21st) ONLY as a digital release, The Wurzels version of Ruby is sure to be a summer anthem! Download from key stores, such as iTunes, Amazon, Play.com, HMV, 7Digital and Tesco Digital.
A promotional copy of this single was made although the disc was a basic black on silver as shown with catalogue number CIA026. The disc came in a plastic wallet with a simple paper insert - the front being the image (top of page) and the back as shown below. Further promotional information was given on sticky labels on the plastic sleeve.
This particular variation on the promotional disc for this single gave a little more background to the release and associated album.
