Released on 11th May 2014 as an internet download only this CD single was a stand-alone release, not part of any album promotion. It was given a catalogue number of CIA20P. Song Lyrics
At the time of the recording of this single The Wurzels consisted of Pete Budd, Tommy Banner, John Morgan, Sedge Moor.
The song was penned after hearing from upset locals in the quiet village of Laverton, near Norton St Philip. The villagers were concerned about the effects of a proposed 66m wind turbine and news of the song led to huge support for its release to help highlight the concerns of this small community. Sil Willcox, The Wurzels' manager was quoted as saying “Renewable energy has to be considered as an important part of the make up of our energy solutions, but imposing these turbines on communities after they have been opposed by local parishes and refused by local planners seems very unfair." The track was produced by part-time Wurzel Louie Nicastro.
The publicity for this single used a pseudo CD sleeve - the front as shown above and the back as shown here on the right (compare with the actual promotional CD sleeve below).
A promotional copy of this single was made available for radio stations and the like. The disc was a basic black on white as shown. The sleeve was a colour printed card - front as shown top of page, the back as below.
